I see your point Mike but nevertheless there must be some
memorable versions and others that are not. Let me phrase
my question better:
Are there any renditions of this work that many or even some
fans of this piece find particularly stirring?

with the Lamoureux. Unfortunately, the attribution is spurious.
To my knowledge, there is no one performance which can be considered
definitive of this or any other substantial work. For example, one
consider Stravinsky's recordings of his own music "definitive" except
the 'definition' changes as his interpretation varies in different
recordings of the same work.
