Thanks to everyone who responded either directly to me or to the list re:moldy
books.  It would appear that this type of allergy is progressive and sneaky to
boot!   I guess I forgot to mention that we have been layering our gloves
(cotton over surgical), and actually I was pleased that a number of people
suggested this, as it therefore doesn't seem so bizarre.

I will gladly take any further suggestions, as I got some very good ones. I
liked best, however impractical, about the beekeepers suit and the scuba tank.
It's amazing the places these messages get forwarded! In our chain of being, I
receive and supervise the counting, sorting etc. etc. blah blah blah of gifts,
but another dept. is in charge of preservation. The folks in that dept. have
the same concerns as I (and apparently MANY others), and they too send their
thanks for the information.
