Nicholas Pickwoad Lecture, Further Info
A private respondent to yesterday's notice about Nicholas Pickwoad's
lecture at Princeton University leads me to say that those who cannot
make the lecture and are interested in bookbinding history should
read his lengthy paper on this particular aspect of the subject.
Here is the citation.
Pickwoad, Nicholas. "Onward and Downward: How Bookbinders Coped with
the Printing Press Before 1800." In _A Millennium of the
Book: Production, Design & Illustration in Manuscript & Print
900-1900_, edited by Robin Myers and Michael Harris, pp.
61-106. Delaware: Oak Knoll Press, 1994.
This book is currently available from Oak Knoll Books for $30.
