Tom Trusky asked:
Is there a catalogue for the Athenaeum show?
In a word, no -- not yet. We plan to have volumes of the artists'
statements/biographies, list of works exhibited, info on works, etc.,
on hand throughout the exhibition space for viewers to peruse.
As for a more formal printed catalogue -- not gonna happen, sorry!
What I'd like to try, pending availability of equipment, is to take
some pictures of the show with a digital camera and then make
these images available [via this list perhaps] to interested parties.
Eventually the Athenaeum may have a Web page, but they just got
a fax machine a few weeks ago, so the technology budget is minimal!
The Athenaeum, though a fabulous library with a now well-established
reputation as one of the most interesting exhibition spaces in the
San Diego area, is nonethless a small, private, non-profit library,
focused on music and art, which has begun exhibiting only in the
last six years, and funds its exhibitions through revenues from art
sales and other contributions. Thus far the budget for *any* show
to date has not been large enough for production of a printed catalogue.
But that's a goal for the future.
Just finished hanging the show today. It looks great! A very impressive
array of fabulous works, each one deserving extended scrutiny & contemplation.
Anyone who can drop in during the next month [show is up thru Aug. 31].
do come on down. It's a memorable show [even without a catalogue...].
