Archival adhesives don't accelerate degradation.

Generally glue is protein (horse, fish, etc.), paste is starch (wheat,
rice, potato,...), though some people refer to pva as glue.

Usually something that sticks things together, but generally whatever
doesn't fit into glue or paste.
