Re: Nature prints

Here are a couple of books that have some references to nature printing:

S. Peter Dance, The Art of Natural History. 1978. Overlook Press, Woodstock,

Martin Rix, The Art of the Plant World. Nd. Overlook Press, Woodstock, N.Y.

The earliest book of nature printing was published in 1733 by Johannes
Hieronymus Kniphof printed directly from inked plants. Henry Bradbury printed
Thomas Moore's Ferns of Great Britain and Ireland in 1855 from electrotypes
made from plant impressions made on a soft lead plate. The Dance book has an
appendix that describes the process.
