Quite right, look at the worst conditions possible in the retrival of flood
or fire damaged books, with particular reference to that famous flood in
the sixties in Italy (I can't remember the city, even though the man I
bought my bindery from did his apprenticeship there.). They managed to
recover the great majority of the books. The oldest books survived the
best, while the newer ones didn't do as well.
Now imagine a computer hard drive in the same situation.
