The San Francisco Center for the Book is delighted o present Clifford
Burke, author of the classics "Printing It" and "Printing Poetry."  One of
the finest and arguably the most influential Bay Area printers of the '60s
and '70s, Burke ran Cranium Press from a garage in the outer Fillmore.  He
currently lives in San Jose, New Mexico, where he owns and operates Desert
Rose Press.

Not for beginners, this workshop/seminar will concentrate on experimental
techniques in printing and design.  Clifford will design and print a
four-page spread of poetry for this workshop; we will be there to observe
the process, and discuss the technical issues raised.  A live demonstration
of many of the principles covered in his essential book, "Printing Poetry."
