Your explanation of the oil-to-paper problem matches my understanding of it.
But P.H. Martin's Concentrated Water Colours are not lightfast -- they're
downright fugitive, even with the books closed.

Dr. Martin's Hydrus Fine Art Watercolor is billed as being lightfast, however.
