This is a reminder to all those who live in,near or plan to be in Southern
California in the next few weeks:

7 December 1997:  Artists' Book Artists Meeting at the Long Beach Museum of Art.
                2 p.m.  A joint meeting of the Los Angeles and San Diego
newly formed
                organizations of book artists.  Please bring information
(book art exhibition
                catalogs, announcements, etc.) to share and/or your own
bookwork for
                show and tell.  Contact Sue Ann Robinson, (562)439-2119,

7 December 1997.  Walk-through with the Curator, Judith A. Hoffberg, at the
                Women of the Book exhibition.  The walk-through includes
anecdotes,
                hands-on with a good number of the bookworks, and
information about
                each artist in the show.  It takes about two hours.  Tour
begins at 1 p.m.
                Finegood Art Gallery at the Milken Jewish Community Center
at 22622
                Vanowen.  Take the Ventura Freeway West, get off at Shoup
(the ramp
                after Topanga Canyon), turn right at Shoup, and go about 3
miles to
                Vanowen, turn left on Vanowen for 1 1/2 blocks and turn into
the Parking
                structure of the Center.  Gallery is on 2nd floor.

21 December 1997.  Workshop with Beth Thielen at the Milken Jewish Community
                Center at 22622 Vanowen, West Hills.  To amplify the
inspiration from 90
                women artists in the Women of the Book Exhibition, Beth will
be teaching
                a workshop emphasizing a fold-out pop-up bookwork.  $40.00
for the
                workshop from 12 - 5 p.m.  Call Judith Hoffberg (310)399-1146 or

24 January 1998.  9:30 - 4 p.m.  Workshop with Gloria Helfgood on the Book as
                Architecture, Architectural Possibilities in Paper.  Limited
to 15 adult                 participants.  $50 for Long Beach Museum of Art
members, $75.00 for non-
                members.  To be held at the Long Beach Museum of Art, 2300
E. Ocean

Judith A. Hoffberg is available every Tuesday and Thursday from 12 - 4
through the
duration of the exhibition, Women of the Book: Jewish Artists, Jewish
Themes, so if you cannot make the walk-through on 7 December, be sure to
visit the gallery on any day of the week, except Saturdays, but especially
when she is around while giving two tours a day.  You don't want to miss
