Book As Art X
June 15, 1998 - January 16, 1999

Forty imaginative, one-of-a-kind and limited edition artist's books will =
be presented in Book as Art X. A parade of eccentric characters appears =
in the Library and Research Center's newly acquired volumes: Scrooge and =
the Ghost in Ida Applebroog's vividly illustrated edition of Dickens's =
classic A Christmas Carol, Napoleon Bonaparte as an unexpected lover in =
Audrey Niffenegger's bizarre tale The Adventuress, and an Indian father =
who remains unperturbed by approaching tigers while hiking in the =
mountains of Kashmir, in Shireen Holman's bittersweet Memories of My =
Father. Also exhibited will be books of paintings by Ursula Sternberg, =
Jan Owen's War Requiem inspired by Benjamin Britten's music, and books =
by artists from Italy, Elisabetta Gut and Angela Lorenz.

Take care,
