Re: Rolltaq Adhesive applicator problems

From: RUPS@wmich.edu (Pamela Rups)

My experiences have been mostly good. If you haven't used it for a few days,
the adhesive does start to get a little gummy. I usually take a minute
before using it to wipe the metal roller with a damp paper towel or sponge,
turning it manually by the little rubber wheels on the ends to wipe the
entire roller to make sure any little gummy bits are off. Then roll the
applicator across a scrap sheet a few times to get the adhesive started
again. The reason you get the slipping is because 1. The adhesive is not
flowing on the application roller properly (see my cleaning directions above)
AND/OR 2. you are dragging one of the outside rubber wheels through an area
to which you have just applied adhesive, which means the area is slippery and
the wheel can get no traction to turn the roller. The directions that come
with the applicator explain how to use it and are very helpful.

Another thing I have found is that it helps to let the object to which you
have just applied adhesive sit for about 20-30 seconds. It almost always
flattens back out, reducing problems in positioning that come with the bit of
curling you get at first. After a quick burnishing, I put the object under a
bit of weight and things have always come out nice and flat.

Good luck.
