To unfold the letters, it is best to humidify them slightly by putting
them in a humidification chamber.  You can use a cooler with a container
with water on the bottom.  Put a piece of screen or something over this so
that your letters do not touch the water. Put the letters in and the cover
on and leave overnight. They will be moist enough to be flexible. You can
then flatten them between blotters under a book or in a press.
