PAPER BOOKS, METAL/WOOD COVERS, AND TACKETED BINDINGS
JODY ALEXANDER is the featured book artist teacher for the June 28-July 1
workshop PAPER BOOKS, METAL/WOOD COVERS, AND TACKETED BINDINGS to be held
at Saltwinds Yankee Barn Workshop in Kingston, Massachusetts.
Jody says, "Leave your book board at home!" If it can be drilled Jody
will show you how to transform unique materials into covers for the books
you design which will also incorporate many techniques of printmaking,
transfer, and stitchery using fabric, flat objects and unusual papers.
Jody will then teach you her method of binding the contents using
artificial sinew sewn around cords with the tackets on the inside of the
accordion book structure. (Bet you can't wait to spend two whole days
really getting into this !)
The workshop will be taught in an atmosphere of constructive encouragement,
and openness to ideas, whatever your background and experience. Beginners are
nurtured, and the experienced are challenged.
Jody is not only a meticulous, creative book artist and teacher, but also
is a librarian and assistant professor at Pine Manor College, has exhibited
books extensively, and has curated an exhibit of turn of the century books:
"....Selected Treasures from the Annenburg Library".
Please register early for this very special 4 day workshop !
