Kinko's was started by a student at UC Santa Barbara. It grew by
creative sharing management and by providing a services. The customers
made it a big chain by dealing with them -- trading their hard earned
dollars for copies and services. Many small businesses started by
essentially using Kinkos as their office. Most of the stores were and
probably are still run by local owner/managers. It is not -- but may
soon sell stock and you and everyone else can buy some and be an owner.
Is there something wrong with that? It is doubtful that they pay
inordinately low wages -- ( if they did the workers would walk --
unemployment is less than 5% ) but even if they do not pay well -- that
is basically a matter betwen the owners and the workers.
