Charles Plymell: born 1935; a major part of the San Francisco lit scene=20
starting in the 1950s, hosting both Neal Cassady and Allen Ginsberg in his=20
apartment during their stay out west. He hand-printed the first ever issue o=
Zap! comics, and has published many titles since. =20
   His first book, Apocalypse Rose, was published in San Francisco in 1967=20
and was enthusiastically received. Small Press Review said: =E2=80=9CPlymell=
Apocalypse Rose is a nuclear reactor and you are invited to use your=20
mind...as a fuel in this reactor.=E2=80=9D=20
   In 1971, City Lights published his classic novel The Last of the=20
Moccasins. In addition, his poetry has appeared in many volumes and magazine=
over the years; most recently The Evergreen Review published Plymell=E2=80=
=99s ode to=20
fellow Beat poet Ray Bremser. The Water Row Press will publish Hand on the=20
Doorknob=E2=80=94A Charles Plymell Reader, in the fall of 1999.=20

=E2=80=9D, is number 10=20
in the syn=C3=A6sthesia press chapbook series; it=E2=80=99s also an advance=20=

   Published in an edition of 125 copies: 99 numbered copies, signed by the=20
author; 26 lettered copies, signed, with three extra illustrations laid-in=20
that do not appear in the book. 8vo., hand-sewn wraps, in dust jacket=E2=80=
editions signed by Plymell. =20
The lettered copies are $40; numbered copies $25, postpaid.
