Re: Paper mulberry

We harvested paper mulberry in Alabama each year as they fell dormant in the
fall, choosing saplings which were about 1-1/2 inches in diameter or smaller.
This grows as shrubbery by the side of roads, cleared every year by the
highway people, so there was a continuous supply of new growth. There are
also enormous trees with small growth all around the periphery located in all
parts of Alabama. Branches can also be cut, again keeping the diameter quite
small to facilitate gathering, but still obtaining a practical amount of
fiber to process.
