Re: Chinese pounding brushes

I believe that the brushes are used to press woven silk and paper
together, when you are making scrolls.  The bristles "push" the
paper/silk together, using a thin glue.  It eliminates air holes and
makes for a perfect binding of two different, large, flat surfaces.
