A second letterpress workshop

Letterpress Printing Workshops in the U.K.

The Alembic Press is occasionally able to make its facilities available for=20
printing workshops, and is offering a five-day letterpress workshop in 2000.=
Our first workshop is already fully subscribed but we still have a couple of=
places left on the second one for the dates below.

The Press has a spacious printshop situated in a thirteenth century stone=20
barn, with an Albion iron hand press, Arab and Peerless treadle platens,=20
Vandercook and Farley cylinder proof presses, Sigwalt and Adana table-top=20
platens and a wide range of metal and wood typefaces. There will be a maximu=
of six people for the workshop, so as to allow students to have individual=20
instruction, yet work at their own pace, and explore their own particular=20
interests, if they so wish. The workshop may also include a slide lecture, a=
visit to nearby sites such as OUP museum, Kelmscott Manor, etc., and a short=
introduction to type composition and casting using a Monotype, if=20
participants so wish.

The course will run each day from 10am to 4pm, and will be

Monday 17 July to Friday 21 July.

The fee is =A3120 (or US$200) per person, inclusive of tuition, basic=20
materials, tea/coffee and lunch. A workshop will only run if at least three=
people register.
