new book

Hi Folks,

Just wanted to let you know that my new book, The Papermaker's Companion, is
in bookstores. It is a how-to book covering how to make paper, with
instructions and projects on a variety of techniques, such as pulp painting,
watermarking, casting, spraying, etc. It is published by Storey
Communications (www.storeybooks.com).

Also, if anyone is interested in making paper with plants this summer in
Cannon Beach, OR, here's a description of a workshop I'm teaching through
Portland State University, Haystack Program in the Arts & Sciences.

Papermaking with Plants

Learn to make paper from plants found along the beach, in the garden, or even
in the kitchen compost. Discover how to harvest and prepare plant fibers to
make unique sheets of handmade paper using inner bark of trees, leaves of
annuals and perennials, and stalks of weeds and grasses to create a diverse
portfolio of plant papers.

To register, call 725-3276 and speak with a registration specialist. There's
a toll-free number for those outside the Portland area: 1-800-547-8887, ext.
