One of my fondest memories of a long trip through Canada was trying to obtain
a Canadian flag decal from a service station.  The attendant kept staring at
me like I was a complete idiot.  Of course, I was sure he was a complete
idiot.  "Oh," he explained, my finger pointing at the de -'cal (US). You want
a dec'- al (CAN).
