Hi all bookbinding enthusiasts,
In October (weekend 15-16) there will again be a great book-weekend in
Diest, Belgium. Apart from all sorts of activities (bookfair,
bookbinders/printers-sale, exhibitions, etc.)there will be a bookbinding
competition. The set book is 2-Eros, a very small book, but worth binding.

DESCRIPTION OF BOOK and DETAILS for COMPETITION
ART-BOOK+ BINDING 2000
BOOKBINDING COMPETITION: ONE SECTION BINDING
The bindery J/J.Camps in cooperation with Edgard Claes (O.S.C) is
sponsoring a bookbinding competition for the advancement of the handbound
The same book will be bound by each participant.
The book consists of one section with two erotic poems by Pieter Boddaert
Jr ( 1766-1805 ) and one illustration ( coppergravure ) of Danielle
Vandenwyngaerden. The text is handset on Hahnemühle velin 160 gr. Title:
"2-EROS" Dimensions: 22 cm x 8 cm. Limited edition of 150 copies
During the weekend of "ART-BOOK +BINDING 2000" the submitted books will be
exhibited in the Cultureel Centrum Begijnhof Diest on Saturday 14/10 and
Sunday 15/10. Opening hours both days from 10.00 till 18.00.

Fee for paticipation is 2000 Belgian Francs (US$47.07) Payment to be made
to the ASLK bank account of Jan Camps 001-1491748-61
Each participant may submit several bindings and is free regarding the
technical method employed and materials.
The bindings can be submitted by mail or delivery by hand, after making an
appointment by phone, to the Bindery J.J.Camps. Final date of submission
The bindings can be collected in the exhibition room on Sunday October 15
between 18.00 and 19.30. The bindings which are not collected at that time,
will be forwarded as registered mail on Monday October 16.
Each participant should make arrangement for insurance of the bindings
Prize awards: First prize 25.000 Bfr Second Prize 15.000 Bfr An
encouragement prize is under consideration
The jury will convene Friday October 13 at 16.00 and will evaluate the
submitted bindings on technical skill and the harmony of the total design.
The awarding of the prizes will take place on October 12 at 18.00 in the
The considerations of the jury will remain secret and the recommendations
are final. During the awarding of the prizes the report of the jury on the
final considerations for the awarding of the prizes will be read.
