Learning Curve/s events

Please join us for two events in the Bay Area this weekend. Reading Across
the Texts of 20 Artists is a special lecture presentation by London
artists Susan Johanknecht and Katharine Meynell. They will speak this
Friday, November 10, at 7pm, at the San Francisco Center for the Book, 300
Deharo, San Francisco. Information at sfcb.org or (415) 565 0545.
This lecture accompanies the publication of Volumes (of vulnerability), a
set of 23 artists books by 20 international artists. The work will be
available for informal viewing; a catalogue is available for $5.00.
On Sunday, November 12, at 2pm, artist Sas Colby will moderate a
symposium at The Olin Library, Mills College, Oakland. Called Spheres of
influence, the symposium will be a conversation with Frances Butler, Julie
Chen, Anne Siberell and Theresa Whitehill on how influences operate in the
work of an artist. Information at mills.edu; directions to Mills College
on the web site or by phoning 510 430 3250. Both events are free and open
to the public; refreshments will be served.
These events are part of a four-month celebration of 20 years of
book arts at Mills College. Learning Curve/s: Twenty years of book arts
at Mills is an exhibition at the SF Center for the Book gallery. Satellite
is an accompanying exhibition at The Olin Library, Mills College.
