CAIRO - An Egyptian author has been sentenced to three years of
hard labour for writings that have been deemed offensive to Islam.

A state security court sentenced Salah-Eddine Mohsen and
confiscated all his works, calling them fanatic ideas.

Mohsen is not widely known but has written a number of books,
including Trembling of Enlightenment and A Night Talk with Heaven.

He was indicted for writing, among other things, that the Islamic
Holy Book is outdated.
