Puget Sound workshops

Two fine workshops will be offered in May for those within commuting
distance of
Shelton, WA.  Both of these workshops are benefits for a non-profit
women's center and
are tax deductible.



Carl Montford, wood engraver extraordinaire, fine printer and water
colorist will guide a class through all the steps of designing, cutting
and printing a fine art piece.  Work will be printed on a Vandercook
press but how best to print without a press will also be demonstrated.
Class will be limited to 10 people.

Date:  Saturday, May 5, 2001.    10am to 3pm
Where:  Hypatia-in-the-Woods, Shelton, WA

Mary Laird will again offer her popular workshop on printing with a hand
press.  Participants will learn the aesthetics and techniques of
letterpress printing and take home copies of the book they have
printed.  The print shop is equipped with a variety of type faces and
both a Vandercook and an Adana press.  Class limited to six people.

Mary Laird, printer and artist, is the proprietor of Quelquefois Press
in Berkeley, CA and has taught many printing workshops in her studio and
in schools.  She emphasizes the joy of creating art using the printed
