Ian Harkness in Long Beach

This is a reminder for an event which should be circled on your =
calendar!  The Artist Book Circle and the Long Beach Museum of Art =
invite all BOOK ARTISTS to meet Ian Harkness who distributes English =
handmarbled papers, archival handmade papers, bookbinding leathers, =
Italian printed papers, calligraphy pens, nibs, and papers, parchment & =
vellum, repair tissues, headbands, glassine, leather dyes, scalpels, =
brass type and finishing tools.  You will be able to talk shoptalk with =
him and purchase any and all items he has on exhibit.  Come one, come =
all to a wonderful ocean-side museum event of good talk about binding =
materials. And you can buy them too! Be sure to tell your book artist =
friends about this special event!

It will be held on 18 August from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Long Beach Museum of =

Free parking in the (new) Museum parking lot on Ocean Blvd., west of the =

Museum between two apartment buildings.=20

      Make a day of it! Come early and enjoy the special exhibitions in =
newly expanded Museum and have lunch in Cafe with a view!=20

      Ian Harkness Presentation is free in the Miller Education Center.=20
      Special exhibition in the Museum is Imps on a Bridge; Wedgwood=20
Fairyland Lustreware. This is like no Wedgwood you have ever seen: =
colorful, extravagantly decorated ceramics that tell magical fairytales! =
exhibition is open until September 9.=20

      The new Museum galleries are open between 11 AM and 5 PM. =
Admission is=20
$5; $4 for seniors and students; free for members and children under 12. =

Hint: the Ocean View Gallery on the second floor is not to be missed.=20

Please identify yourselves as being part of the Book Arts Group to =
receive a=20
dollar off the admission.=20

      Museum Store opens at 11 AM and closes at 5 PM in the original=20
Anderson House on the campus.=20

      Museum Cafe opens at 9 AM and closes at 4:30 PM in the original=20
Anderson House. Soups, coffees, sandwiches, and salads are available to =
inside the newly restored 1912 Craftsman-style building, or, on the =
around the spectacular fountain. Both spots offer terrific views.=20
