The HRC has used polyester or mylar, a brand name, book jackets to
protect books for at least the past 20 years. We have never seen any
mold growth on the book covers or the polyester -- admittedly,
environmental conditions in the stacks are very stable. The jackets
have protected the books from quite a bit of abrasion --lots of
scratches can usually be seen on the polyester.
