This message is being sent to the book_arts-L, ExLibris, and SHARP bulletin
boards:

The current Rare Book School exhibition at the University of Virginia is
entitled "Intentional Miscataloging: The Pedagogical Uses of Ephemera in
the RBS Collections." The exhibition showcases some of our paper ephemera
collections and explains ways in which this material is used in various
courses here.

Not all of the material in this exhibition is ephemeral (the medieval
manuscript scraps, in particular, might be said to have some permanent
value); on the other hand, one generation's ephemera can be a later
generation's treasure, and there aren't many items in this show that would
have been greatly valued by their creators.

You might be amused to try the downloadable instructions provided on our
Web site at

         <http://www.virginia.edu/oldbooks/exhibitions/current.shtml>

for turning the "Intentional Miscataloging" exhibition brochure into its
own envelope. Downloading requires the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader, and
you'll need to print the result out on legal size paper.
