Hello List members,
        We are searching for a new chair and I am especially interested in
someone who is sympathetic to my bookarts/printmaking area, and the Image &
Text Conference we host.

Chair, Department of Art, Stephen F. Austin State University

Established NASAD-accredited Art department seeks applications and
nominations for an energetic individual with good interpersonal skills and
strong leadership abilities. The Chair is expected to provide leadership
and direction for the department and foster a unity of purpose in the
department. Candidates may be from studio, art history, art education or
curatorial backgrounds, with appropriate terminal degrees; demonstrated
administrative leadership experience preferred. The successful candidate
will have a strong background and interest in promotion, fund raising and
community outreach. The individual must be supportive of faculty research
and creative work and one whose administrative style is based on shared

SFASU enrolls approximately 12,000 students and is well located between
Dallas and Houston in East Texas. The department has 15 full-time faculty,
282 majors and offers BA, BFA, MA and MFA degrees and is considered a
regional center for the arts and enjoys a statewide reputation for
excellence. The candidate should have the vision and skill to build on the
department's strengths.

Position begins August 25, 2002.  Salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
