The Alembic Press is occasionally able to make its facilities available for=20
printing or bookbinding workshops, and is repeating the very successful=20
pattern of the last three years by offering a five-day letterpress workshop=20
in 2002.

The Press is located in the south of England, some 50 miles west of London,=20
and eight miles south of Oxford. It has a spacious printshop situated in a=20
thirteenth century stone barn, and is equipped with an iron hand press,=20
treadle platens, cylinder proof presses, table-top platens and a wide range=20
of metal and wood typefaces. There is a maximum of four students, allowing=20
each to have individual instruction, yet work at their own pace, and explore=
=20
their own interests, should they wish. The workshop also includes a slide=20
lecture on early printed books, or a visit to nearby museums with a printing=
=20
emphasis, or an introduction to casting with Monotype equipment, depending=20
upon the preference of participants.

The course will be Monday 22 July to Friday 26 July 2002 and runs each day=20
from 10am to 4pm.=20

The fee is =A3150 (or US$225) per person, inclusive of tuition, basic=20
materials, tea/coffee and lunch. A workshop will only run if at least three=
=20
people register, but a second workshop can be offered if the first becomes=20
oversubscribed. To reserve a place, please send a deposit of =A330 or US$50=20
(cheque payable to Claire Bolton). After 30 April, this will only be=20
refunded if the workshop is cancelled.=20
