Reputedly deaf, mute and illiterate, James Castle,=20
self-taught Idaho artist/bookmaker, will be a featured
subject at the Mid-West "Write to Learn" conference=20
meeting at the Tan-Tar-A Marriott Resort in Osage=20
Beach, Missouri, Feb. 28th-Mar. 2nd.  The theme=20
of this year's conference is "Celebrating Diversity,=20
Teaching Tolerance."

Works by Castle will be on exhibit at the conference.
Facsimiles of Castle books and the video documentary,
"Dreamhouse:  The Art & Life of James Castle," will =20
also be available.

Tom Trusky, Director of the Idaho Center for the Book,=20
will deliver the keynote address, "Literacy and=20
James Castle," Friday, 1:00pm, March 1st. =20

Trusky will also give a slide/lecture presentation,=20
"James Castle & Evidences of Autism,"=20
Friday at 3:00pm.
