*Temporary Preservation Assistant II
Band B/ Part-Time
Through June 30, 2002
Preservation and Conservation

Main Function: Working under the direction of the Book Conservator and the
group leadership of Conservation Technician IIIs, the Preservation
Assistant II deals with circulating and rare materials, performing book
repair/restoration, binding, and paper conservation treatment on books,
pamphlets, manuscripts, and paper graphics. Assist in the training of
students.   Participates in grant-funded conservation projects, including
helping to perform workshops and managing portions of larger
projects.  Assist in water emergencies.

Minimum Requirements: Formal training beyond a high school diploma of 6
months to one year with 6 months to one year of experience or equivalent
combination. One-year experience of conservation or related area preferred.
Good manual dexterity and attention to detail required.
