[BKARTS] Call for Entries - National Juried Artists' Book Competition

Bright Hill Press, at the Bright Hill Center in Treadwell, New
York, announces a call for entries for  its first National Book
Arts Competition, to be juried by Richard Minsky, book
artist and creator of The Center for Book Arts in NYC; and
Peter Verheyen, book binder, conservator, and founder of
the Book Arts Web and List Serv.

The exhibition will be held from July 6 through July 31,
2002, at the Bright Hill Center, 94 Church Street, Treadwell,
NY 13846 (in the Catskill Mountain Region).  The opening
reception is July 6, from 2-5 p.m.

Send no more than three works —  one-of-a-kind,
editioned, sculptural, wearable, fine press, architectural, or
textual —  in a sturdy, reshippable container.  Insure your
work and enclose postage that includes the cost of
insurance (or a check for shipping and insurance) for
return. Work is insured while at the Center.  Size limited to
50 inches high by 30 inches wide.  Maximum three entries
per press and/or person allowed; entry fee is $20 for one to
three artists’ books.  Completed entries must be received at
the Center by May 28, 2002; ship by U.S. Post or other
carrier.  If an artist or press sends three books and one or
two are accepted, the unaccepted book(s) will remain at the
Center until the exhibition closes, at which time all work will
be returned to the artist.  Notices of acceptance will be sent
no later than June 15.

Include a biography of no more than 150 words and an
artist’s statement.  Do not include any additional materials.
A catalog of the exhibition will be produced.
