--Sandy Tilcock exhibition opens May 16, 2002 in Collins Gallery--

The exhibition, Sandy Tilcock: Oregon Printer / Bookbinder / Boxmaker will
be in the Collins Gallery, Central Library, Multnomah County Library, from
May 16, 2002 until June 28, 2002.  The opening public reception will be in
the Collins Gallery on May 16, 2002 at 6 p.m.

A long-time resident of Oregon, Sandy Tilcock has been actively involved
in the book arts for more than 20 years. She founded the lone goose press
in Eugene, Oregon in 1989.  In 1999 she was hired at as the University of
Oregon as Director for Knight Library Press.  She regularly teaches
letterpress printing and bookbinding in the Fine and Applied Arts
Department at the UO.

Sandy is known for producing beautiful literary fine press titles, often
having content concerned with environmental issues, and for cooperative
works between writers and artists.  The exhibition will include books,
broadsides, printed ephemera and keepsakes, as well as materials that
relate to the production of these objects, such as book dummies,
hand-decorated paper samples, and layout examples.

The Collins Gallery in located on the 3rd Floor of Multnomah County
Library's Central Library, 801 SW 10th Street, Portland, Oregon, 97205;
hours are Tues/Wed/Thurs: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Fri / Sat: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.;
Sun: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
