[BKARTS] Tape Removal Workshop

The posts about book repair with tape reminded me to post this announcement about a workshop sponsored by the New England Chapter of The Guild of Book Workers.

Tape Removal
A Workshop with Elizabeth Morse
Saturday, 16 November 2002
9:30 am to 5 pm
Dartmouth College Conservation Lab
Hanover, NH

Elizabeth Morse, conservator of paper, will present a one day workshop on Pressure Sensitive Tape Removal.

The workshop will focus on the identification of various rubber based and acrylic tapes. Safe, effective and non-solvent means for tape removal will be covered in detail. Techniques will be introduced and then practiced by each participant. Tools will be fashioned and sample sheets made. Special attention will be given to removing tape from bound books and the challenge they present.

Come with tape questions, taped objects, and techniques which have been successful for you. This is an intensive, hands-on day. Be prepared to work!

The cost for this workshop will be $90. A tool list and directions will be sent to attendees. To register, please contact Barry Spence at bspence@openbookbindery.com
