San Francisco Center for the Book and Lux Gallery are hosting a joint Open
House for their two artists' books exhibitions, Revealing the Mysteries:
50 Years of Artist Bookmaking in the Bay Area, and [re]Readings: Artists'
Books Now. The Open House is this Saturday, December 14th, 1-4pm at both
venues. SF Center for the Book is located at 300 De Haro Street (at 16th
Street at the foot of Potrero Hill); Lux Gallery is located at 521 7th
Street just below Bryant in the SOMA district. There will be shuttle
service between the two venues. Artists and curators will be at both
        The Lux Gallery show includes many works that can be handled, both
in the gallery and in the Reading Room adjacent to it; all work in this
show, which is by a group of nearly 30 international artists, was created
since 2000. The SFCB show traces the history of artists' bookmaking since
the early 1950's; it is a rich compendium of the work that has taken place
in the Bay Area since that time.
