Sorry for the jargon, here's the key:

JPEG-Joint Photography Experts Group
lossy - loss (or modification) of data
dpi -dots per inch, used here as synonymous with pixels per inch
pixel - your picture is chopped into a grid for sampling, each grid
cell is one pixel
lossless - no loss (or modification) of data
TIFF - tagged image file format
LZW - don't know what it stands for. A compression algorithm that
allows for 100% restoration of the original data.
