[BKARTS] Position open - Collection Repair Technician - NCSU, Raleigh, NC.

Salary Grade: 59 $20,576-$30,839

Will serve as Collection Repair Technician; work with the conservator to
repair monographs and serials using accepted collection conservation
techniques; perform paper repair techniques; construct protective
enclosures; in collaboration with conservator triage brittle or damaged
material to determine proper
treatment, complete quality control on completed treatments; train student
workers to complete minor treatments on library materials; in absence of
supervisor, oversee the work of the Repair Unit; assist in maintaining
statistical files to track the Unit's production; assist staff with
questions related to the repair of materials; assist supervisor with
special projects and in coordinating Program activities; member of library
disaster team; other projects as assigned by supervisor; work requires
using a variety of cutting equipment and tools.

Prefer BA/BS; experience in collection repair, art or design; understanding
of archival and library collections; working knowledge of materials used in
collection repair work; experience with word processing and spreadsheets;
demonstrated hand skills and manual dexterity, a portfolio of completed
work is requested if available; good interpersonal skills; ability to
organize workflow and set priorities; attention to detail; good
interpersonal skills; ability to lift/move 25 lbs; ability to push a loaded
book truck; some word processing skills; demonstrated knowledge of standard
office applications, MS Office desired; must have experience with
spreadsheets, Excel; ILS systems such as SIRSI Unicorn helpful.
