[BKARTS] Hermann Zapf to speak in Chicago, Tues. May 20

I wanted to remind those of you in the Chicago area, or within
driving distance, that Prof. Hermann Zapf will be speaking next
Tuesday night. Zapf will team with Linotype Library Type Director
Akira Kobayashi to present the story behind the development of
Optima Nova and other typographic tales.

During this event, The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA)
will present the first SOTA Typography Award to Zapf, an ex officio
board member of the organization. The awards presentation will serve
as a prelude to a planned tribute to Zapf, which will take place
this summer during TypeCon2003 in Minneapolis.

This lecture will take place at the UIC Theatre Building, Room L285,
1044 West Harrison in Chicago. A reception will begin at 6:00 p.m.,
with the lecture commencing at 6:45 p.m. Admission is $35 in advance
or $45 at the door, and $25 for students showing valid ID. Seating
is very limited, and tickets may be purchased by calling
1-888-698-8545. Organized by Dynamic Graphics as part of their
educational series, the event is sponsored by Creatas, Linotype,
Rohner Letterpress, Fox River Paper Co., and STEP Inside Design
magazine.

I hope to see some of you there - it should be a wonderful evening!

Cheers, Tamye
