[BKARTS] Vineyard Book Arts Workshops

There are a few special summer workshops in book arts happening this
summer at Seastone Papers on Martha's Vineyard, two of which are being
taught by Maria G. Pisano who teaches at The Center for Book Arts in NY
and whose work can be seen on the Book Arts home page at
http://www.philobiblon.com.

Miniature Books
Wednesday-Thursday, August 6-7 10:00-4:00

Miniature books are challenging to make because of their size
limitations. Just like designing any other book, however, all the
elements of the book design need to be carefully considered. Create a
wonderful array of miniature books, using both traditional and
experimental book structures including a pyramid book, cascading book,
flexagon, and dos-a-dos. An assortment of techniques will be employed,
including pop-ups, all along sewing, paste papers, and much more. Bring
collage elements, your favorite stamps and anything else you would like
to incorporate in your books. A brief history of miniature books will be
covered.
Instructor: Maria G. Pisano Fee: $180 plus $15 materials

The 3D Carousel Book
 Monday, August 11 10:00- 4:00

Learn to construct these panoramic tunnel books, where the 3D scenes are
revealed in multi-layered openings that recede into space. Viewed
through a window or other intricate opening, multidimensional visual
scenes are created which may extend a narrative or project a theme. No
experience necessary; just bring pictures and ideas.
Instructor: Maria G. Pisano Fee: $95
