The Language of Print celebrates print, text, and the written word
through Flash Readings, an art opening, a video installation
premiere, along with food, drink, and a letterpress demonstration. A
dozen Northwest writers -- including Joanna Rose, Lidia Yuknavitch,
Lance Olsen, Joseph Bradshaw, and Kevin Sampsell -- will perform
short readings in a casual atmosphere. Portland photographer Laura
Domela, San Francisco-based multimedia artist Mark Faigenbaum, and
Pinball Publishing will show prints and photography, Christy Brewer
will present an installation piece, and Plazm's Joshua Berger will
premiere a video.

"The Hanged Word," a literally in-your-face presentation of 'zines,
book arts, and the written word curated by Krista Marshall Arias and
Tiffany Lee Brown, will also make its debut. The Language of Print
has a sliding scale donation admission of $5-23; proceeds will
benefit 2 Gyrlz Quarterly, the non-profit arts and culture webzine at
http://www.2GQ.org. It takes place Sunday, November 23, 7-10 pm at La
Palabra Cafe-Press, 4810 NE Garfield (one block west of Alberta &
MLK). See also http://www.lapalabracafepress.org.
