[BKARTS] Winter Open House at the Center for Book Arts in New York City Saturday January 24th


New York, NY - The Center for Book Arts Winter Open House will be held on
Saturday January 24, from 11 am - 4pm.

On Saturday, visit the Center for Book Arts and see various book projects in
action with demonstrations in bookbinding, letterpress printing and paper

* raffle prizes
* refreshments
* membership and course registration

The Center's staff will be on hand to answer questions about the Center's
schedule of classes and workshops in hand bookbinding, letterpress printing,
printmaking and hand papermaking.

The Center offers over 200 classes per year in crafts related to the
handmade book. The event is free and open to the public. The Center's
schedule for January through August is now available online at

The Center for Book Arts is dedicated to the preservation of the traditional
crafts of bookmaking, as well as encouraging contemporary interpretations of
the book as an art object.   Founded in 1974, it was the first
not-for-profit organization of its kind in the nation. The Center organizes
exhibitions related to the art of the book and offers an extensive selection
of educational courses, workshops and seminars in traditional and
contemporary bookbinding, letterpress printing, fine press publishing, and
other associated arts. The Center for Book Arts is supported by its members,
and by local businesses, various foundations including the Lenrow Fund, the
Milton and Sally Avery Arts Foundation, the NY State Council on the Arts,
and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Center is located at 28 West 27th Street, on the 3rd floor, between 6th
Avenue and Broadway. To get to the Center by train, take the N, R to 28th
Street and Broadway; the F to 23rd Street and 6th Avenue; or the 1 or 9 to
28th Street and 7th Avenue. Please call the Center for details on parking in
