[BKARTS] marbled endpapers

I want to make marbled endpapers for restoration work. These are 17th - 18th century books, so I want to work as acid free as possible. Does anyone on the list marble? What is the best method for an acid-free result? I have heard that using Alum as a mordant is bad for the paper and the book. Any advice?
