Here's a question for you.

What do Donald Jackson, Suzanne Moore, Mark Dimunation, Heather McHugh,
Priscilla Juvelis, Lynn Amlie, Carol Blinn, Theo Rehak, Michael & Winifred
Bixler, Vincent FitzGerald, Donald Glaister, Jeff Dwyer, Daniel Kelm, Ruth
Rogers, Katherine McCanless Ruffin, Zahra Partovi, Don Rash and Marshall
Weber all have in common?

Not sure? Why not ask them all when you see them at the Wells Book Arts
Center's upcoming symposium, Matter & Spirit: The Genesis and Evolution of
the Book? Our symposium will take place at Wells College in Aurora, New
York, from 29 April through 2 May 2004.

Early registration rates are still available until March 19th, and the
vendor fair is filling up fast. Detailed registration information, as well
as a complete program, are available at www.wells.edu/bookarts. Click on the
sidebar that says "Matter & Spirit Symposium."

In addition to four demonstrations and eight presentations, the symposium
will present a panel discussion on entrepreneurship in the book arts,
sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. An exhibition
highlighting the creative process in the book arts will accompany the
symposium. Participants will also have the opportunity to take a tour of the
Press & Letterfoundry of Michael & Winifred Bixler, one of the most
important type casting shops (and working museums) in the nation.

A vendor fair for book artists, dealers, and suppliers will run concurrently
to the symposium. Current vendors include the Booklyn Artists Alliance;
Boxcar Press; Caliban Press; The Dale Guild Type Foundry; Vincent FitzGerald
& Company; Granary Books; Hand Papermaking Inc.; J-D Press & Keepsake
Bindery; Priscilla Juvelis, Inc.; Kat Ran Press; Oak Knoll Books & Oak Knoll
Press; PABA · PhotoArt BookArt Gallery; Vamp & Tramp, Booksellers + Califia
Books; and Warwick Press.

Registration fees are as follows: early registration, by 19 March 2004, is
$175 for professionals and non-students and $100 for students. Regular
registration, beginning 20 March 2004, is $225 for professionals and
non-students and $150 for students.

Registration fees include:

* entrance to all public events: the exhibition, the symposium opening
reception, the vendor fair, and the 19th biannual Swartzburg lecture given
by Donald Jackson

* entrance to all presentations, demonstrations, and the panel discussion

* the Sunday morning tour at the Press & Letterfoundry of Michael & Winifred
Bixler

* all meals: continental breakfasts, morning breaks, lunches, and afternoon
tea on Friday & Saturday, and dinners on Thursday & Friday

* the Saturday night banquet at the Aurora Inn

* transportation between Hancock International Airport in Syracuse and the
symposium hotels in Auburn

* transportation between the symposium hotels in Auburn and Wells College

* transportation to the Press & Letterfoundry of Michael & Winifred Bixler
and then on to Hancock International Airport in Syracuse.

The Wells Book Arts Center is proud to offer a symposium of such distinction
at such reasonable rates. This would not have been possible without the
generous support of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the Earl Knudsen
Charitable Foundation, and the Independent College Fund of New York.
