Ed is correct.  During a dispute, a credit card company will generally try
to discover the truth of the matter.  PayPal will automatically assume
whatever position prevents them from absorbing any loss.  In the past they
would seize the funds in question, and not return them to either the
plaintiff or the defendant.  But I believe some recent lawsuits by assorted
State Attorney Generals may have changed that practice.
