[BKARTS] Waxing or fixative on book cover?

I have made a photo album with a home-made, thin paper on the cover.
I was told that using beeswax, acrylic medium, or a spray fixative can
help protect the paper from physical damage or water. The only
problems are the potential discoloration, tackiness, or flakiness.
Does anyone have any experience with protecting a cover which has
flimsy paper over it?

Thanks, Nicole
