Re: [BKARTS] What's the matter with this board?

Because you are a novice, you probably did not use Red label Board when the
quality was good, so you have no way of comparing. Undesirable objects are not
found in every board. You probably don't use but a small fraction of the board
used by a professional bookbinder, else you would have seen pieces of rubber
band. The staples and other metal objects are mostly taken out magnetically in
the tank. The rubber bands are a problem when they are just below the board
surface and present themselves as a small bump. When you attempt to flatten the
bump, you can't because of the resiliency of the rubber.

Lineco does not manufacture board. They probably use Red Label board, which I
said before is buffered. If that is the case, when you get experienced
enough, you will have a problem with it because, it will not perform as needed.

As for arcane suggestions, one could look at hand binding as compared with
high volume machine binding the same way. Automation was created to save time
not improve quality.
