[BKARTS] GBW NY Chapter workshop

The New York Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers is pleased to announce a two day workshop with bookbinder and artist Shanna Leino. Shanna Leino studied bookbinding in Iowa City and has completed three models - a late Coptic, Armenian, and Greek - for the University of Iowa's Binding Models Collection. She previously taught the late Coptic structure here in New York for the Guild of Book Workers in November 2002. She has also taught at the Garage School Annex and the Center for Book Arts.

Following a tradition that continues today, the weekend will begin by preparing wood covers for this sewn board structure. Leather endbands will be woven and then sewn to the book through the leather covering, and the covers and wide turn-ins will be ornamented by tooling following the traditional patterns.

Space is limited to 10 participants

Workshop fees: Members $145.00 Non-Members: $175.00
