[BKARTS] Pop-up Book Exhibit & Lecture

"Show Me a Story: Children's Books and the Technology of Enchantment"
Exhibition in the F.W. Olin Library, Mills College, Oakland, California
January 18-March 11, 2005

This exhibition which originated at the San Francisco Center for the Book demonstrates how historical pop-up and movable books have influenced contemporary book artists.

Andrew Baron, Santa Fe paper engineer, will give a lecture at Mills on February 6, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. He will discuss his design work on the award winning children’s book Knick-Knack Paddywhack by Paul O. Zelinsky (A New York Times Best Illustrated Book for 2002) which is featured in the exhibition. Baron is considered to be one of the world’s top paper engineers. The lecture and a reception with take place in the Heller Rare Book Room, F.W. Olin Library, Mills College. Free and open to the public.

The Heller Rare Book Room is open Monday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. It is closed daily from noon-1 p.m. For more information please call
