[BKARTS] linen tapes?

As a follow-up to Bill Minter's observations on linen fibers'
strength, lack of fold-resistance, etc. (and the other info that
others posted on linen), I take it that using linen tapes is not as
advisable as cotton or ramie? Or is the weave such that it would
compensate for linen's wearing because of folding? And is there a
technical term to describe/discuss that aspect of fibers?

Many thanks for the illumination, variety of experience, and opinion.
